Heel

'Heel' comments on the expectation for women to be "feminine" and dress in heels. By attaching the heeled shoe to my face and limiting my movement to what I can do with the heel on the floor, I exaggerate the impracticality and absurdity of wearing heels. A wireless microphone hidden inside the shoe amplifies my breath, intensifying the element of struggle, and supplementing the live sound by Jarryd Lowder. Dec. 2008.
